Jurgen Klopp first major project proves success of Liverpool's 1.5bn global masterplan

Liverpool have topped the table as the most-engaged club in the Premier League with more than 1.5billion fan engagements, figures have revealed.

The Reds enjoyed a strong season in what proved to be Jurgen Klopp's final campaign at Anfield, picking up a 10th League Cup in the process. Their 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of the season underlined their third-place qualification and route back into the Champions League.

Their showing followed on from one of their worst performances since the German succeeded Brendan Rodgers as they finished outside the top four for just the second time during his tenure. As a result of the improved camping for Liverpool, there was a 39 per cent increase in engagement from the previous campaign.

Last summer, Liverpool moved to strengthen their midfield following the previous dismal season by acquiring Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. The Reds added further reinforcements in the middle in the form of Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch following the shock departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool confirmed that their Instagram page was the most-engaged with after Blinkfire Analytics provided data for all major platforms such as X, Facebook and TikTok. The club have published figures that show more than 61 per cent of the 1.5billion engagement was on content such as the emotional visit of Liverpool fan Daire Gorman to their AXA Training Centre.

The news surrounding Klopp was well documented by the clubs social media channels and the build-up to his final game at Anfield saw an influx of content. The German sat down with Kelly Cates, as well as the departing backroom staff to discuss their best moments from Anfield and the opening of fan mail in an emotional segment during his final days as manager, two posts from it on their Instagram page gathered almost one million likes.

Around the time of Klopp's departure, the 56-year-old made his first steps on social media joining social media platform Instagram, amassing over three million followers in less than a month. His management team, Project MJK, announced a partnership with global sports marketing agency SPORTFIVE acting as a commercial and marketing representative for the next three years.
