Celtic fans have declared ‘justice for Santa’ after the Christmas gift-giver made a surprise appearance to hand over the Scottish Premier League title.

The festive figure strode out at Celtic Park under unfamiliar May sunshine to present the League Trophy following Celtic’s 3-2 win over St Mirren.

It is believed the club was keen to make amends with Father Christmas after he was booed by a section of the crowd in December.

The yuletide celebrity got a cold reception as the team suffered a 2-0 slump to Hearts in their first home defeat of the season.

His appearance during the title celebrations on Saturday was greeted with huge cheers and laughter, indicating no frostiness between the fans and Mr Claus.

Some took to social media to say they were pleased a cold war had been averted, and that all had been forgiven now they were off the naughty list.
