Juventus announce Massimiliano Allegri will leave Serie A club this summer
Massimiliano Allegri will leave Juventus at the end of the season, the Serie A club have announced.
Allegri has perennially been linked with a move to the Premier League after his success in Italy.
Having managed Juventus since 2014, he helped them win the top flight for five consecutive seasons, a big part of their near-decade era of domestic dominance.
And his departure could leave further question marks over the future of Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri, with rumours gathering in recent days of his imminent departure.
“Massimiliano Allegri will not be on the Juventus bench for the 2019/2020 season,” a club statement read.
In the brief statement, they confirmed there will be a press conference with club president Andrea Agnelli at 2pm on Saturday.
Allegri’s trophy haul also includes four Coppa Italia titles, with this season being the only time during his reign that Juventus have not secured a domestic double.
Despite success on home soil, Allegri was unable to deliver the biggest prize in European club football, losing two Champions League finals – against Barcelona in 2015 and Real Madrid in 2017.
Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte are joint front-runners for the role according to Betfair, while Laurent Blanc and Diego Simeone are also in the running.
