Kai Havertz gives Scotland qualification hope as they have 'good chance' of getting out of group

Kai Havertz reckons Scotland still have a strong shot at qualifying out of their Euro 2024 group despite the annihilation by Germany last night.

The Arsenal striker scored from the spot as the Germans swept Scots aside in a 5-1 rout thanks to a stunning Jamal Musiala performance in particular. Steve Clarke's side failed to muster a single shot on target and were overawed and outplayed in every position, unlike a traditional Scotland performance.

But Havertz still believes they have a chance at making it out of the group due to the players they have in the squad with Premier League experience as well as trophies in their history that proves there's talent there.

"Did we expect Scotland to be a tougher opposition? I wouldn't say so," he admitted. "We knew they are a very good team, a good side, have strong players. Players who have already won a lot of trophies and we knew it'd be a tough opponent.

"We started quite well with a goal inside 15 minutes which was important for us, then after the red card it got a bit easier for us. All in all they still have a good chance to go through and we all wish them all the best."
