Ken de la Bastide: Speedway veterans set for 25th Fort Wayne Rumble

Dec. 26—Several drivers with experience at Anderson Speedway will take part this weekend at the 25th Rumble in Fort Wayne.

The "Rumble" is an indoor event for midgets, and karts and has become a staple of the winter racing season. The event will take place Friday and Saturday.

Entered for the midget race are three drivers who have found success with the Kenyon Midget Series and in non-wing sprint cars.

Trey Osborne will compete in Fort Wayne for Don and Mel Kenyon and has already announced plans for the USAC Silver Crown and Sprint car season.

Thomas Schrage has won two Kenyon Midget features at Anderson Speedway and is racing open wheel cars in Europe.

Jack Macenko was rookie of the year with the 500 Sprint Car Tour and is making a return visit to Fort Wayne.

Kyle Hamilton is a former winner of the Little 500 and is being joined at the Rumble by his brother, Nick, a veteran of the Little 500.

With the start of the new racing season approaching, there are several drivers who should be in the spotlight in 2024 at Anderson Speedway.

Anderson resident Andrew Cook is planning to run the entire Street Stock schedule and is due for some good luck on the high banks.

Josh Ebbertt showed lots of promise in the Marcum's Welding Front Wheel Drive division and is expected to compete in a Street Stock next year.

A driver to watch at next year's Little 500 is Brady Bacon, who is driving for Hoffman Racing.

The team recently tested at Anderson Speedway and appears to have gotten the handle on the new race car for 2024.

James Kirby III is expected to compete in the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models next year and will be joined by two members of the Crabtree family.

Last week there were some concerns about the future direction of the IndyCar Series.

But with Roger Penske at the helm, any woes should be ironed out before the Indianapolis 500.
