Rangers are ready to launch a summer move for Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean.

Gers boss Philippe Clement is keen to bolster his midfield options ahead of the new season having shipped out Ryan Jack and John Lundstram. The Light Blues have freshened up the middle of the park by adding ex-Aberdeen starlet Connor Barron to their ranks but are in the market for more experience.

McLean, 32, has been on the Ibrox club's radar for some time and was the subject of interest last year before putting pen to paper on a contract extension with the Canaries. However, the Scotland international - who appeared as a sub in all three Euro matches - has never hidden his love for Rangers and could now be offered the chance to fulfill his boyhood dream.

The Daily Record reports that McLean has emerged as a serious target for Rangers, who would need to put together a package that would tempt Norwich to part ways with their key man. Now entering his seventh season at Carrow Road, McLean was an ever-present in the Championship last season, racking up 52 appearances across all competitions as they fell short in securing Premier League promotion.

And six years after leaving Aberdeen, the versatile star - who can also step in a centre-back - could be tempted back home. McLean is under contract until 2026 with the option of a further year and it remains to be seen whether Norwich would be willing to part ways with their vice-captain.

The situation will likely become clearer over the coming weeks as new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup runs the rule over the squad - including former Celtic loanee Adam Idah.
