Kevin Costner Re-Creates Pivotal ‘Barbie’ Scene At Golden Globes Alongside America Ferrera

Last year, Kevin Costner could not attend the Golden Globes where he won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his starring role in Yellowstone. While not nominated this year, he was back as a presenter, paired with America Ferrera of the most nominated movie, blockbuster Barbie.

Ferrera opened their banter by admitting what a big fan she is of Costner’s, telling him that the emotional goodbye scene in The Bodyguard between Costner and Whitney Houston set to the late singer’s rendition to “I Will Always Love You” gives her chills.

Costner returned the favor by reciting Ferrera’s now-famous monologue from Barbie, in which her character tells Margot Robbie’s Barbie, “It’s literally impossible to be a woman. You’re so beautiful you’re so smart, and kills me that you don’t think you’re good enough.”

“Did you, Kevin Costner memorize my monologue about womanhood from Barbie,” an incredulous Ferrera asked, to which the Oscar winner replied with a very unconvincing “no.”

He proceeded to speak of the speech’s “important message.”

“It always serves to remind me what’s possible in a film, just reminds me that when we take our time when we manage to get it right, when a film is working at its very best, it can be about moments you never ever forget: a look, a touch, a kiss, a speech. And you just had one of those moments.”
