KHL players had to play through fog during a preseason tournament in Sochi, Russia at Bolshoy Ice Dome.

Above is a photo from a game between CSKA Moscow against a Russian national team.

That picture could have been taken through the glass, which may have made the moisture in the air look worse. But, even professional photos didn’t look that great either. You can find more on Russia Hockey’s Facebook page.

Here are some highlights from the game where you can definitely see some issues with the air.

Former NHL star Pavel Datsyuk, who left the Detroit Red Wings with a year left on his contract to return to his family in the KHL, took part in another game with SKA St. Petersburg against HC Sochi. The fog didn’t look too much better for Datsyuk.

Here are video highlights from that contest.

SKA St. Petersburg also has an extensive photo gallery of the game on their Facebook page.

This probably brings back some memories of the NHL’s famous ‘Fog Game’ in the 1975 Stanley Cup Final between the Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres, though that fog looked a little more extreme.

CSKA Moscow lost 2-1, while Datsyuk’s SKA St. Petersburg was downed 6-5. The tournament runs through Saturday, Aug. 6 with all games taking place in the Bolshoy Ice Dome.
