Kieran Tierney Scotland injury update as Steve Clarke makes admission on Arsenal man

Kieran Tierney has been ruled OUT of Scotland's final Euro 2024 group game against Hungary after coming off injured tonight.

Steve Clarke has confirmed the bad news post-match and it will come as no surprise to supporters after seeing the defender stretchered off during the draw with Switzerland. The 27-year-old landed awkwardly after trying to put Breel Embolo off when the Swiss midfielder broke through for a chance on goal.

Tierney immediately gestured towards the bench that he would need replaced and he looked to be in serious discomfort. A stretcher was then brought on to take him off the field of play and he was distraught, covering his face with his shirt as he was carried away.

Interviewed after the game, Clarke told BBC Sport: "Yeah, definitely out. It looks pretty bad. Obviously we have to assess it but Kieran won't play the last group game.

"You have to feel for him, he's got himself into great shape, he's a top player for us who does ever so well. But it's a chance for someone else to step in and step up to the mark."

Clarke was far more pleased with his team tonight than after the heavy defeat to Germany on Friday. He felt they responded in the exact manner they needed to by being aggressive, on the front foot and looking to press.

He added: "We didn't turn up in the first game, we wanted to show them we can play. We know we have to be aggressive. Everything you saw on the pitch was aggression but quality as well. We're a good team when we play.

"They've always shown that we could turn it around. You have to put the first game down as a bad night for us. We didn't get on the front foot at all against Germany, we sat back too much. Tonight, we were determined to make sure we were pressing and went after the ball. We kept two players higher up the pitch to start that press, and it worked tonight against a very good Switzerland team I have to say.
