Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is the latest player to be linked with a move to Chelsea, with the club working on a deal to bring the Leicester City midfielder to Stamford Bridge. understands that the Blues have made their move for the player, although it has been reported that the offer falls below Leicester’s valuation and that negotiations between the two clubs continue. If a deal is completed then it will see the midfielder reunited with Enzo Maresca who he worked under last season.

Chelsea look to have beaten off Brighton for Dewsbury-Hall, amid talks of a possible swap deal between Leicester and the Seagulls involving Jakub Moder. The Blues could also look to include players in negotiations with Leicester to try and convince the Foxes to accept a deal.

Dewsbury-Hall is said to be open to a move to Stamford Bridge with personal terms not a problem if a deal is agreed between the clubs. But the midfielder has already given Chelsea a slight worry ahead of a transfer having picked up an injury in unusual fashion at the end of last season.

Leicester secured the Championship title with a 3-0 win against Preston North End in their final away game of the season. That result prompted celebrations between the players and the travelling fans with Dewsbury-Hall at the centre of them.

He was, however, spotted limping off the pitch at the end of those celebrations. Maresca confirmed that he had picked up a problem that ruled him out of the final match against Blackburn in his pre-match press conference, it however seemed that the problem may have been bigger than made out.

On the day that Leicester picked up the Championship trophy, Dewsbury-Hall was forced to walk around the pitch on crutches and with his foot in a boot. The same went for the team’s open top bus parade just a few days later.

The extent of the injury was never outlined. Maresca did however confirm that the midfielder should be back in time for the start of the season.

Chelsea will be hoping that the timeline is correct should they complete a deal with Leicester and the player this summer. The Blues play their first pre-season friendly against Wrexham on July 25 as preparations for the season opener against Manchester City just a few weeks later begin.
