Kris Boyd lays into 'absolute disgrace' Rangers decision by ref Nick Walsh in St Mirren win

Kris Boyd has laid into referee Nick Walsh for his "disgraceful" decision to book Jack Butland vs St Mirren this afternoon.

The Ibrox side managed to eke out a narrow 2-1 win at the SMiSA Stadium to keep the pressure on rivals Celtic who played Dundee later in the day. A James Bolton own goal for Gers was levelled in the first-half from Buddies striker Mikael Mandron but it was Cyriel Dessers who hit the winner after the break to hit 20 league goals this term and seal the points for his club.

As St Mirren chased a leveller, attacker Toyosi Olusanya galloped in on goal from a long ball only to be met by goalkeeper Jack Butland who cleared the ball before wiping out the attacker with his momentum.

And after he was shown a yellow card for the incident, Boyd - on punditry duties at Sky Sports - insisted it was an "absolute disgrace" to book the stopper.

“I must say as well the decision after that to book him was an absolute disgrace," Boyd said. "He’s came and cleared it, Olusanya has run into him and Jack Butland has been booked for that?

“I wouldn’t have liked to see it if that ball had ended up in the back of the net from that free-kick because that was a terrible decision, to be honest.”
