Kylie Scott, Barron Duda and Grace Frazier lead all-state lists

Mar. 27—Six area boys and girls basketball players received all-state honors this season. The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association announced its all-state and all-district teams Wednesday.

All-state honors

Carl Junction senior Kylie Scott is a repeat honoree; she was named to the Class 5 all-state girls squad last year as a junior. Scott has signed a letter of intent to play at Division I Oral Roberts University.

Diamond senior and Missouri Southern State University commit Grace Frazier also is a repeat honoree on the girls Class 3 all-state team.

Webb City senior Barron Duda was the lone boys player to land a spot on an all-state squad after being selected to the Class 5 team. Duda, the Central Ozarks Conference Player of the Year, led the Cardinals to an 8-1 record in the league while averaging 22.7 points per game in COC play.

Miller sophomore Loghann Leivan was a Class 2 girls all-state pick after receiving the same award last year as a freshman. Nevada senior Clara Swearingen was named to the girl's Class 4 all-state team and Liberal junior Taylor Swarnes was an all-state selection for Class 1 girls.

All-district, Class 6

A number of athletes and coaches also were recognized on all-district lists. All of the all-state picks were taken from those who had received all-district awards.

Carthage players Lauren Choate and Lexa Youngblood, both juniors, were named to the Class 6 District 6 girls team.

All-district, Class 5

Joining Duda on the Class 5 District 7 boys squad was teammate Holton Keith, a junior at Webb City, who helped lead coach Jason Horn's Cardinals to a 21-7 record.

Joining Carl Junction's Scott on the Class 5 District 6 team is McDonald County sophomore Carlie Martin.

All-district, Class 4

In girls Class 4 District 12, Aurora landed four juniors on the all-district team: Kylee Cole, district player of the year, and Makenna Hall, Alyssa Burch and Jaelyn Ernest. Aurora coach Jason Cole was picked as District Coach of the Year.

Joining the Aurora foursome on the list are East Newton senior Brooklynn Blanchard, Cassvillle senior Madison Halterman and a pair of Monett sophomores — Meredith Merriman and Kilee Wilson. Rounding out the squad are two Mount Vernon players, juniors Cheyenne Bieber and Addie Hall.

Seneca's Morgan Vaughn was selected as Class 4 District 12 Player of the Year and Seneca coach Cort Hardy and Mount Vernon coach Mike Ray shared the District Co-Coach of the Year honor.

Joining Vaughn on the all-district squad were fellow Seneca seniors Ethan Altic and Gavyn Hoover. A trio of Aurora seniors also were named to the team: Cannon Thornhill, Dayton McHenry and Thomas Lara. Rounding out the squad was Monett junior Landyn Brandt, Monett senior Ian Waterman, Cassville's Eli Stokes and Mount Vernon's Jarrett Zerby.

All-district, Class 3

Diamond junior Lauren Turner joined Frazier on the Class 3 District 12 girls team that included Lamar senior Jaycee Doss, Lamar junior Zaire Wiss and pair of Sarcoxie sophomores: Remington Garrison and Ariel Wilson.

Lamar, Pierce City and Sarcoxie all placed two players on Class 3 District 12 boys team.

Lamar senior Ian Ngugi and sophomore Talon Timmons joined Sarcoxie seniors Garrett Smith and Matt Swayne and Pierce City juniors Emmitt Price and Kyler McWilliams on the squad.

In addition to all-state honors, Miller's Leivan also was named Class 2 District 12 girls Player of the Year. Two Miller teammates and fellow sophomores — Ashlynn Helton and Rachel Nunez — joined Leivan on the team. Also picked were College Heights Christian School junior Libby Fanning, Jasper juniors Crystal Smith and Emerson Bass, and Pierce City junior Macie Crowther.

All-district, Class 2

College Heights seniors Caleb Quade and Colsen Dickens were named to the Class 2 District 12 boys squad. Joining the College Heights duo on the team were Liberal senior Luke Bott, Jasper senior Wyatt Durman, Miller sophomore Owen Weiss and junior Jarod Lung, and Verona junior Jessy Gamel.

All-district, Class 1

Thomas Jefferson senior Gabbi Hiebert was named Class 1 District 3 Player of the Year and TJ coach Lindsey Showalter was selected as the District Coach of the Year. TJ senior Sarah Mueller joined Hiebert on the All-District team along with McAuley senior Kloee Williamson.

Lockwood seniors Adrien Neill and Kelsey Daniel were both selected for Class 1 District 4 girls honors.

Two McAuley players — junior Michael Parrigon and senior Bradley Wagner — were named to the Class 1 District 5 team.

In Class 1 District 6 boys, Lockwood's Ethan Baker was selected as District Coach of the Year. Lockwood junior Nik Thieman and senior Henry Schnelle were selected to the team, along with Golden City sophomore Spencer Parrill.
