Lady Devils earn final basketball ranking

Mar. 12—ATLANTA — Tift County's Lady Devils finish at No. 7 in the Score Atlanta/Atlanta Journal-Constitution's final basketball poll.

Though Tift won two of three from Veterans in 2023-24, the Lady Warhawks are fourth in the final rankings after advancing to the semifinals.

State champion Marist and runner-up North Forsyth occupied the first two spots. River Ridge was No. 3, then Veterans. Langston Hughes and Woodward Academy were Nos. 5 and 6.

Only one other Tift opponent in another classification, Buford, placed in the final rankings. Despite being eliminated in the elite eight, the Lady Wolves were third in the Class 7A poll. Lowndes, who was a final four team in 7A, was No. 5.

The elite eight finish for Tift was their first since 2013.
