Albion right-back Tariq Lamptey has lauded new signing Ibrahim Osman following his £16 million move from Danish side Nordsjaelland.

The 19-year-old had an impressive season, scoring ten goals and providing 8 assists, showcasing his goal-scoring ability and creativity from wide positions.

Lamptey, an established figure in Albion’s squad, is familiar with Osman’s abilities from their time together in Ghana’s national team.

The right-back said: “You know that Ibrahim Osman is a really good player.

“He’s young but he’s really good, he’s hard working so I’m really excited to welcome him into the squad.

“We’ve already spoken about it at the last (Ghana) camp.

“He’s a good guy and I think he’ll do well so I’ll help him out and he’ll be good just to enjoy his football, that’s what it’s about.”

Lamptey is set to work with his third Albion head coach as Fabian Huerzeler takes over from Roberto De Zerbi.

Reflecting on his experience working with De Zerbi, Lamptey expressed admiration despite the Italian’s departure after guiding Albion to their inaugural European campaign.

Lamptey said: “The way he saw the game was different and we played some fantastic football so I really enjoyed my time with him.

“I just tried to use the experiences that he gave me to add to my game and make me a better player.

“I’ve always played in different positions so right from the youth upwards to the first team.”

Albion fans will forever remember the just-ended season as they had the opportunity to play European football for the first time ever.

Lamptey, who has played various positions since his youth career, also acknowledged the historic European debut.

Despite failing to pick up a win in their opening two Europa League games, they finished strong winning their remaining four games to make it to the playoff round.

Roma proved to be too strong for De Zerbi’s men as they were knocked out of the round of 16.

Lamptey was on the pitch for those two games against Roma and also played a big part in the campaign-changing 2-2 draw at Marseille.

He said: “Playing in Europe for the first time with Brighton was an amazing experience for the club, for the fans, for everyone especially and we’re hoping to push again.”
