SAINTS continue to be linked to players likely to make moves with the summer window having now been open for two weeks.

The St Mary's side have only added to their first-team squad with former Saint Adam Lallana on a free transfer so far.

A busy summer of ins and outs is ahead with fresh links suggesting Saints are in advanced talks over additional signings in defence.

Here are the latest rumours involving Saints - could any of them come to fruition?

A popular Burnley podcast has claimed defender Charlie Taylor is set to sign for Saints at the end of his current contract this month.

Turfcast states that they have heard Taylor, 30, is set to swap Turf Moor for St Mary's in three days when his deal expires.

Left-back Taylor is a former England youth international with 28 appearances in the Premier League last season, in a possession-based side.

Journalists in Lancashire believe the rumour started at a breakfast event Burnley held on Wednesday, where the information was revealed.

Saints have this week confirmed the permanent sale of left-back Romain Perraud to Real Betis, after the Frenchman spent last season out on loan.

Yukinari Sugawara to add to right-back options?

St Mary's is also said to be the most likely destination for right-sided defender Yukinari Sugawara.

Japanese outlet Sponichi claim Saints are in negotiations with AZ Alkmaar over the 23 year old with a 'high possibility' of a deal being struck.

Sugawara has spent four years with the Dutch outfit, who Saints played in pre-season last summer, representing the club in European competition.

He only has one year left on his contract and could be on the move this summer, with his value said to be around £10-12million.

The Japanese international turns 24 this week and would be the club's second signing of a Japanese player this month - after Rento Takaoka.

Long-term target Ronnie Edwards to advance?

Saints are among several clubs interested in signing Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards, according to multiple reports.

The Daily Echo understands Saints are long-term admirers of the 21 year old England youth international, with already 142 appearances for Posh.

Sky Sports state that Saints have made contact with Peterborough over the £10million valued youngster, while talkSPORT has also confirmed interest.

The Athletic reports that an unnamed Premier League club are in negotiations and Peterborough will not stand in his way if the valuation is met.

Edwards is yet to play above the Championship but helped his side to win the EFL Trophy at Wembley Stadium last season.

Lyanco to get his desired move?

Defender Lyanco has no future at Saints and his exit is a matter of time, despite a permanent transfer with Al-Gharafa falling through.

Reports in Brazil claim a departure is imminent with his next club to be revealed as early as in the next 24 hours.

UOL claim that Atletico Mineiro and Botafogo are tussling over the signature of the 27 year old centre-back.

They say the deals could reach up to £5million in value, including potential bonuses paid to Saints after the transfer.
