Latta girls do it again

Feb. 3—SHAWNEE — The Latta High School girls powerlifting team did it again.

The Lady Panthers captured the Small School team title Thursday at the Bethel Wildcat Invitational powerlifting meet held Thursday inside the spacious Firelake Arena in Shawnee.

Latta rolled to the championship, piling up a whopping 184 team points, Minco was s distant second at 73 followed by Chandler at 55, Luther at 53 and Cashion at 48,

The Stratford Lady Bulldogs finished sixth with 44 points.

The Latta boys finished eighth out of a group of 38 small school squads with 54 points.

Chandler won the team title with 111 points, Washington was second at 81 and Frederick finished third at 77. Host Bethel was next with 74 points and Laverne was fifth at 70.

Konawa finished with 58 points at the meet.

There were 25 teams in the Large School Boys Division, 38 teams in the Small School Boys Division, 20 teams in the Large School Girls Division and 30 teams in the Small School Girls Division. There were approximately 1,200 total lifters at the Bethel Wildcat Invitational.

Both Latta teams will return to action on Feb. 15 at Chickasha High School.

GIRLS

Jaycie Prine paced the LSH effort, capturing a gold medal at 165 pounds. She placed first in both the bench and the deadlift and was third in the squat.

Audrey Forshay finished second at 121 pounds for the Panthers. She finished first in the deadlift, second in the bench and fifth in the squat.

Faith Adegbule also brought home a second-place finish for Latta while competing at 198 pounds. She finished first in the bench, second in the squat and third in the deadlift.

Laraby Jennings placed third at 150 pounds after finishing second in the deadlift, fifth in the bench and fifth in the squat.

Other Latta girls' results included:

—Avery Wilson, 5th Place, 108 pounds. She was third in the deadlift.

—Keegan Bellefeuille, sixth, 108 pounds. She was fourth in the squat.

—Erin Kerr, fifth, 121 pounds. Kerr was fourth in the bench.

—Daisy Marical, fourth, 136 pounds. She was third in the squat.

—Taryn Cotanny, sixth, 136 pounds. She was fourth in the deadlift.

—Ryan Grey, ninth, 136 pounds. She was third in the deadlift.

—Ollie Miller, 10th, 150 pounds She was fifth in the deadlift.

—Savannah Sullivan, ninth, 165 pounds. She was fourth in the bench.

—Payton Noland, fifth, 181 pounds. She was third in the bench and fifth in the deadlift.

—Stacie Williams, fourth, 198 pounds. She finished second in the deadlift, third in the bench and fifth in the squat.

—Mary Bell Wilson, fifth, 220 pounds. She finished fifth in both the deadlift and the squat.

—Jadyn Jackson, fourth, HWT. She finished second in the deadlift and fourth in the bench.

BOYS

Holden Lee led the LHS contingent with a second-place showing at 181 pounds He ended up first in the deadlift, third in the squat and fourth in the bench.

Jed Marical had a solid third-place finish at 145 pounds. He placed second in the deadlift and third in the squat.

Other Latta boys results included:

—Abraham Tellez, 10th, 132 pounds. Tellez finished with a weight total of 735.

—Andrew Morrow, 10th, 157 pounds. Morrow finished with a weight total of 885.

—Jake LaMack, 12th, 157 pounds. He finished fourth in the deadlift and had a total of 865.

—Darien Miller, 10th, 181 pounds. He finished with a weight total of 1,010.

—Cooper Underwood, seventh, 198 pounds, Underwood finished fifth in the squat with a total of 1,055.

—Zeagan Stewart, seventh, 220 pounds, Stewart finished fifth in the squat with a total of 1,125.

—Dylan Moffett, 10th, 220 pounds. He finished with a total of 1,100.

—Ethan Harris finished fourth in the bench at 168 pounds.

—Jake Clampit finished third in the bench at 181 pounds.

In the ninth-grade boys division, Kaen Dildine finished fifth at 168, Tylan Roberts finished sixth at 168 and Jacoby Impson finished 10th at 220.
