Charlton Athletic are interested in signing Ipswich Town striker Gassan Ahadme, the EADT and Ipswich Star understands.

The 24-year-old joined the Blues from Burton Albion for a low six-figure fee back in 2022, having spent time with the likes of Norwich City and Portsmouth earlier in his career.

He made just eight appearances for them in League One in 2022/23, re-joining Burton Albion on loan in January of that season. He was subsequently sent to Cambridge United for the 2023/24 campaign, where he scored 11 goals in 29 appearances, finishing as the U's top scorer.

With Ipswich now in the Premier League, the club will look to move him on this summer. However, with a year remaining on his current deal, they will not sanction a transfer without a fee.

Charlton have registered their interest in acquiring his services and are an option for him this summer, while other clubs are also keen on signing him ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The Addicks were embroiled in a relegation battle for much of last season, but turned their fortunes around when Nathan Jones replaced Michael Appleton as manager, finishing in 16th place.

Their leading marksman, Alfie May, has reportedly been subject to interest from relegated Championship outfit Huddersfield Town.

Cambridge United commentator Doug Shulman discussed Ahadme's spell at The Abbey back in May, which subscribers can watch here.
