A look at some of the latest news and gossip from around Wanderers’ division…

Charlton linked with Ruddy

Nathan Jones is preparing for his first full season in charge at the Valley as the Addicks aim to build on their 16th-place finish.

The London club have been linked with a move for experienced goalkeeper John Ruddy, who is out of contract this summer.

The 37-year-old has also been offered fresh terms to remain at St Andrew’s following the Blues relegation from the Championship.

Edwards joins Addicks

Charlton have also confirmed the signing of versatile full-back Josh Edwards from Dunfermline for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old was named in last season’s Scottish Championship Team of the Year and can also play in midfield.

Jones told the club website: "We’ve beaten off a lot of competition from other clubs to bring him to Charlton. He's a player with a lot of potential, who has played a lot of games in Scotland over a number of years now.”

Interest in Magennis

Former Wanderers striker Josh Magennis is reportedly attracting interest from Exeter following his release by Wigan.

Magennis scored 14 goals in 98 appearances at the Brick Community Stadium and is also a regular on the international stage with Northern Ireland.

Exeter finished 13th last term, sticking with manager Gary Caldwell despite a tough start to the campaign.

Howard extends Wrexham stay

Ex-Bolton goalkeeper Mark Howard has signed a one-year extension to remain at Wrexham for the coming season.

The 37-year-old linked up with Phil Parkinson at the Racecourse Ground in 2022 and has been part of back-to-back promotions from the National League under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Howard said: "To be part of the club on the journey it’s on is a great honour for myself towards the back end of my career. I’m still loving my football. I know I’ve got a different role to play going forward, but I absolutely love it.”

Birmingham land Allsop

The Blues have brought in Hull goalkeeper Ryan Allsop from Hull City for an undisclosed fee as Chris Davies starts to put his stamp on the squad.

The 32-year-old has a wealth of experience, having made more than 350 appearances during spells with the likes of Cardiff, Derby and Wycombe.

Allsop told the club website: “I’m a boyhood Birmingham City fan and as soon as I knew there was interest, it was something that I wanted to explore. It is a club very close to my heart."

Posh sign Rochdale youngster

Peterborough have forked out a “six-figure fee” to land young defender George Nevett, according to owner Darragh MacAnthony on social media.

The London Road club also brought in Chris Conn-Clarke from Altrincham earlier this week as Darren Ferguson aims to build on their play-off semi-final defeat against Oxford.

Ferguson said: "We think he has massive potential to succeed at this level. I’m looking forward to seeing him progress his game in a Posh shirt."
