Leeds United require just four points to secure promotion to the Premier League after a 16 year absence. However, if results go Leeds' way, a return to the top flight could be secured sooner.

Saturday 18 July

The earliest Marcelo Bielsa's side could be promoted is on Saturday (July 18). If Leeds win on Thursday against Barnsley, and Brentford fail to win their match on Saturday, Leeds will be promoted.

Sunday 19 July

Brentford can keep the pressure on Leeds by winning on Saturday. However, if Leeds pick up a win and a draw from their fixtures this week - against Barnsley on Thursday and Derby on Sunday - then automatic promotion would be locked in on Sunday (July 19).

Wednesday 22 July

If Leeds lost, either - or both - of their two penultimate fixtures, the promotion race could go down to the final day. Theoretically Brentford could cut Leeds' lead to three points or even be level with the Yorkshire club if they failed to accrue any points against Barnsley and Preston. This would leave Leeds, West Brom and Brentford scrapping it out for glory on the final day of the season.

Leeds fans will certainly be hoping it doesn't go that far.
