Chelsea could well take advantage of Leeds United's financial situation to complete another summer transfer in the coming days. But any hopes of getting a deal over the line quickly could be wide of the mark.

The Blues have been linked with a move for Crysencio Summerville, although Crystal Palace's Michael Olise is their number one priority in an attacking sense. football.london understands the Blues are to open talks with Olise's representatives over a move after being given permission by Palace.

If that deal does not get done though, they could turn their attentions to Summerville. And with Leeds United needing to balance their books to comply with the EFL's Profit and Sustainability Rules, it could be an easier deal to get over the line.

However, Leeds are no longer in quite the desperate need to raise funds that they were previously. An investment deal with Red Bull has helped with their PSR deficit significantly, but they will still need to sell.

Leeds Live writer Beren Cross told football.london: "Whites chairman Paraag Marathe has already acknowledged sales will be needed in this transfer window to ensure the club complies with PSR rules.

"Recent investment from Red Bull, understood to be the biggest sponsorship deal in EFL history, has markedly helped the situation. Marathe even said that deal could be the difference between selling or keeping a key player this summer."

Leeds will want £30million to sell Summerville, with Liverpool also interested in the forward. The Whites are in no rush to sell though to meet any unofficial June 30 deadline to go on the 2023/24 accounts after the Red Bull investment.

Cross added: "An exit for Summerville does feel as though it would suit all parties. He was bought for a small sum in 2020 and would generate a significant profit on the books.

"He was named Championship Player of the Season in April and finished the campaign with 28 goal involvements. At 22, with two years to run on his contract and nothing left to prove in the second tier, the Dutch winger is expected to be the big sale of the summer at Leeds United."
