Liel Abada and Giorgos Giakoumakis in Celtic reunion as one comes out on top in MLS clash with double

Liel Abada and Giorgos Giakoumakis went head-to-head in a post Celtic clash as Charlotte FC met Atlanta United in MLS.

And it was the Israeli winger who came out on top in the Stateside battle, scoring a double in a 3-2 win over his former teammate's side. Abada started the game for Charlotte and former Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield was an unused sub while Giakoumakis was used from the bench by Atlanta.

They actually took the lead through Thiago Almada but a Derrick Williams own goal made it level at half-time. Abada then struck twice to make it 3-1 and a Xande Silva goal for the home side proved to be nothing more than a consolation in a defeat. The 22-year-old's first was pinpoint strike from the edge of the box and his second was similarly accurate but from closer in after getting on the end of a cut back.

He deservedly won the man-of-the-match award and afterwards was reunited with Giakoumakis. He later shared a snap of them together on the pitch and wrote: "Good to see you my bro."

Giakoumakis is expected to complete an £8million move to Mexican side Cruz Azul just over a year after moving to Atlanta from Celtic.
