Lightweight Champ Rafael dos Anjos Willing to Welcome Georges St-Pierre to the 155-Pound Division

Former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre stunningly announced on June 20 that he was ready to return to the Octagon after subjecting himself to a test training camp. During an appearance on The MMA Hour, St-Pierre said that he was willing to fight middleweight champion Michael Bisping, compete in the division he once dominated, welterweight, and said that he could probably even cut down to the 155-pound weight class.

Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos idolizes St-Pierre, but is willing to welcome the Canadian to the lightweight division if St-Pierre can make the weight.

“I’m a big fan of Georges St-Pierre. For me, it would be great to fight against my idol. It’s a new challenger, and it’s a big money fight. If he can make it, I’m here. I’ll have the belt.”

St-Pierre stepped away from fighting after his ninth title defense at UFC 167 in November 2013. It's been nearly three years since ”Rush” last fought.

Dos Anjos is set to defend his lightweight belt for the third time in the UFC Fight Night 90 main event on Thursday against Eddie Alvarez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
