Spain are dominating possession as expected very early on and England are getting no time on the ball.

6: Raheem Sterling shot is high and wide.

7: Ross Barkley shoots wide for England.

Spain are pushing the ball around and enjoying 80 per cent possession.

Yet for all their fancy touches and neat work, Spain are not probing. They are denying England any space but with 18 minutes gone, the score is still 0-0.

But here we are with 20 minutes gone, there has not been a shot on target and England's 15-match unbeaten run goes on.

The last time England lost was that 2-1 World Cup defeat against Uruguay in the 2014 World Cup.

21: Something of note ... Santi Cazorla comes on for the injured Thiago Alcántar in a move that will delight Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Almost immediately Harry Kane is close to turning in Ryan Bertrand's cross.

Spain are upping the tempo...

27: Andres Iniesta puts Paco Alcácer clean through but he fails to hit the target and within a minute Diego Costa drags a shot wide.

30: Ross Barkley carries the ball 30 yards and shoots wide as the defence backs off.

35: Kane gets the match's first effort on target with a shot Casillas saves easily on his 165th international appearance.

40: Fabian Delph enjoys the game's second effort on target, firing directly at Casillas from outside the area.

43: Kane mishits from 18 yards after a neat England passing move.

For all the fact that Spain have enjoyed 68 per cent possession we reach half time with the score SPAIN 0 ENGLAND 0. To be honest, it's been like watching paint dry but given all the experts said England would be destroyed by 'technically superior' Spain, Roy Hodgson will be happy with the first 45 minutes.

The second half gets under way...

Spain have taken Iniesta off and England coach Gary Neville has been chatting to Adam Lallana about what that means...

England have now gone 6 hours 51 minutes since they last conceded a goal.

52: England win their first corner, to be taken by Lallana... which comes to nothing.

57: Diego Costa has a shot deflected just wide as Spain open up the defence. The corner comes to nothing.

England are warming up some substitutes.

Delle Ali and Eric Dier look like they are coming on - the Spurs duo will hgave around 30 minutes to make their mark.

60: Off come Lallana and Delph as England inject some youth and inexperience. Dier becomes the 66th player used by Roy Hodgson. On comes Juan Mata for Spain, replacing Diego Costa.

Yawn...

65: That was close from Kane - a 20-yard snapshot that whistled inches wide.

71 GOAL: Spain 1 England 0 - Mario Gaspar Perez Martinez's stunning finish, the right back slamming a shot over Joe Hart.

On comes Wayne Rooney for England in place of Ross Barkley...

England now have 10 minutes to preserve their unbeaten record.

82: Kane gets into a great position but slips as he shoots and the chance is gone.

84 GOAL: Santi Cazorla puts Spain 2-0 up but England are furious as they feel there was an offside.

0: Michael Carrick is stretchered off injured, replaced by Jonjo Shelvey.

91: Rooney hits the top of the crossbar with a scuffed effort.
