Liverpool becomes first Premier League club to reach milestone as Man Utd and City left behind

Liverpool has pulled clear of Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal after becoming the first Premier League club to reach a significant milestone off the pitch.

The Reds have announced they have reached 10million subscribers on YouTube, leaving its top six rivals behind. Liverpool first launched the channel in 2005 and has pulled in fans with its exclusive behind-the-scenes content from matchdays and training.

Liverpool bid farewell to Jurgen Klopp earlier this month with his final match against Wolves seeing the club reach the landmark. A recent upload of Klopp's final post-match speech to his players has been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

United is next in line with 9m subscribers, with City remaining in third with 7.4m. The growth of Liverpool's commercial activity and unique content has secured double the amount of subscribers as Arsenal (4m) and Chelsea (5m).

Liverpool digital senior vice-president Drew Crisp told the club's official website: "We’re extremely proud of our original content and that by delivering it on our YouTube platform we can easily connect with our global fanbase wherever they are in the world.”

"We’re thrilled to be the first Premier League club to reach this impressive milestone and lead the league in content creation." Liverpool joins an elite group of creators receive a Diamond Play Button as a result.

Liverpool's most-watched videos include highlights of famous wins over Barcelona and Manchester United at Anfield. However, the clip that leads the way is players reacting to their FIFA 20 ratings, watched a staggering 46m times.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have previously reached the milestone, as has the official La Liga channel but Liverpool is one of few UK sporting creators to do so. Freestyle duo F2 have over 14m subscribers but their YouTube channel is left behind by KSI, according to Social Book.

The social media influencer has entered the professional boxing world in recent years, facing off against the likes of Tommy Fury and Jake Paul. He has a remarkable 24m subscribers on his personal YouTube channel.

Liverpool.com says: The Reds are continuing to grow across the world and this milestone shows just how successful its commercial activity and social media presence is. The fact that over 1.5m fans have watched Klopp's farewell video sums that up. An even more successful season on the pitch next time out, could lead to greater success off it.
