Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could make seven changes for West Ham after Everton loss

Liverpool's chances of giving Jurgen Klopp a Premier League title send-off seem to have evaporated following a dismal defeat to Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday.

The Reds delivered one of their poorest performances of the season, losing 2-0 and suffering their first defeat at Goodison Park in nearly 14 years. Now, Liverpool's focus shifts to their remaining Premier League fixtures, starting with a trip to West Ham United on Saturday. Here, we preview the potential changes Jurgen Klopp might implement for their next match. One question is around Konate.

While the title race may be effectively over, Liverpool still need to secure a top-four finish. Only Tottenham Hotspur, who are 14 points behind with six games left, can now push them out of the Champions League qualification spots, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool will need to bounce back from the derby disappointment in Klopp's second-to-last away game in charge, which will likely necessitate several changes.

However, it's unlikely that these changes will affect the goalkeeper position, where Alisson Becker remains ahead of Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian. Notably, both Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas were brought on late in the game for right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and left-back Andy Robertson respectively, and could be in contention for a start.

Ibrahima Konate's subpar performance could see him replaced by Jarell Quansah in the centre-back position, with Virgil van Dijk expected to retain his spot. Joe Gomez is another potential replacement, but Joel Matip is ruled out for the season.

The midfield was a letdown at Goodison Park, especially considering their strong second-half showing against Fulham just three days prior.

Wataru Endo might be reinstated as the number six, providing an opportunity to rest Alexis Mac Allister or push him further up the pitch. Neither Curtis Jones nor Dominik Szoboszlai impressed on Wednesday, leaving Harvey Elliott and Ryan Gravenberch ready to step in.

Bobby Clark is also a possibility, although he and fellow youngster James McConnell have been absent recently. Stefan Bajcetic is regaining fitness with the under-21s, while Thiago Alcantara remains unavailable.

Liverpool felt the absence of both Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota at Everton. While Jota continues to nurse an injury, Gakpo could make a comeback after missing out due to his partner going into labour.

He had been tipped to start following some solid recent performances. If available, he could slot in on the left or, more likely, in the centre where Darwin Nunez struggled on Wednesday.

Mohamed Salah's performance at Goodison was less than stellar, and he may be benched again if Luis Diaz is moved from the left to right flank as seen in last weekend's Fulham match. Elliott could also be considered for a wing position, as could young talent Kaide Gordon.

Meanwhile, teenage striker Jayden Danns has been on the bench in recent matches and could provide an unexpected option down the centre.
