Former Liverpool goalkeeper Doni has traded football for property development in Florida, making millions of dollars in retired life.

The 44-year-old played at Anfield between 2011 and 2013 after joining from Roma, and he was part of the 2012 EFL Cup-winning squad. Doni only turned out on four occasions for the Reds, though, playing behind longtime Anfield great Pepe Reina.

The goalkeeper returned to his boyhood Brazilian club, Botafogo, to see out his career before retiring in 2013. And he's making handsome sums of money in retirement, now based out of Florida, as a property developer and investor.

Doni is the co-founder and co-owner of D32 Builder, and the company is responsible for turning over $20 million in revenue, having built hundreds of housing units across Florida. One of D32 Builder's biggest projects, with construction starting soon, is a 150,000-square-foot commercial mall in Belleview, Florida.

The 6ft4in former shot-stopper regularly visits the company's projects to keep a watchful eye over their progress. He loves to look the part, being well-groomed and strutting around in a suit. "It’s important to visit and check all projects constantly. Every time I see the progress of our projects, I know that we are in the right direction," he said.

Doni has three children: two daughters and a soccer-playing son. Nicholas, 18, is a center-back for Conseza in Italy, while his oldest, Thalita, is a volleyball player at the University of Chicago. Nicholas and Thalita were old enough when their father was playing at Anfield, and there is a picture of them pitchside on his Instagram. The youngest, Naty, is a keen tennis player.

Doni returned to Liverpool at the start of last year with his family. "Returning to Liverpool after so many years, visiting our old home, school and many places we loved to go," he said in a montage video. "Good old memories... Turns a movie in your head... Even more so that I had to leave football because of health problems.. Feeling? Mix of joy and sadness, but it will be a city that will always be remembered."

Doni is supported by his longtime partner, Camila, the mother of his three children. The Marangon family supported the Brazilian national team in their Copa America warm-up game against the USMNT earlier this month. The game took place in Orlando, Florida, at the Camping World Stadium. Rodrygo opened the scoring for Brazil but the lead didn't last long as Christian Pulisic drew the hosts level.

"First time at the stadium with the family for a national team game!!!! Love you guys," Doni said on Instagram, smiling alongside his wife, and three children.

Liverpool.com says: Doni had a successful career on the pitch, particularly at Roma, and despite his Liverpool career being short-lived, we wish him all the best. He won on and off the pitch, and now he's raking in the big bux in Florida.
