Liverpool's decision to bring in Luis Diaz as Sadio Mane's successor has been left under the microscope.

The Reds secured Diaz's services in January 2022 after a tug-of-war with Tottenham and West Ham, committing £37.5 million for the Colombian on a five-year contract.

Diaz was seen as the heir to Mane's throne following his move to Bayern Munich, but doubts were cast from the start, reports the Mirror. Ex-Premier League defender William Gallas was among those who expressed concerns early on, saying: "Liverpool don't have Sadio Mane anymore and Diaz does not have the same impact."

Now, reports from AS Futbol indicate that Liverpool could be open to offloading Diaz come summer, though they'd be looking for bids in the region of £63.8million.

Gallas wasn't alone in his cautionary stance; even Diaz's compatriot, Faustino Asprilla, highlighted areas for improvement. In a chat with Marca Colombia in 2022, Asprilla pointed out: "I think Lucho is being eaten up by anxiety. He's playing very well. But, when it comes to scoring, he's making the wrong decision, in that play, we saw he had to score first.

"In the Copa America, he scored an almost impossible goal [against Brazil in the group stage], and now he has a chance to score first time, and he couldn't. Anxiety is killing him."

Luis Diaz, with 98 games under his belt for Liverpool, boasting 24 goals and 13 assists, appears to be on the market with the Reds reportedly open to offers for the Colombian star.
