Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher slaughters 'embarrassing' Man Utd players for post-match reaction

Jamie Carragher slammed the "embarrassing" behaviour of Antony and Mason Mount after Manchester United's 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

United were schooled by Oliver Glasner's side at Selhurst Park, raising further questions over the future of Erik ten Hag after another dismal display during the current campaign.

The Red Devils have now suffered a record-high 13 Premier League defeats and are some 13 points off the top four after what has been a disastrous second season for Ten Hag.

Reacting to this latest setback in their season, Jamie Carragher was in attendance for Monday's 4-0 drubbing and could not believe his eyes after seeing Antony and Mount whispering to each other as they left the pitch.

"Just get off the pitch," Carragher exclaimed after watching footage of the pair live on Sky Sports. He added: "Talking and whispering behind your hand, you have been absolutely awful. They are probably talking about one of the players, or somebody else or the setup or the manager. Just get off the pitch. Shut up and get in, you've been beaten 4-0. Whispering and talking about other players. Honestly, embarrassing."

United now sit a staggering 24 points behind Liverpool in the table after their latest loss of the season, which has now left them scrambling to save any kind of European football.

A defiant Ten Hag admitted after the full-time whistle he remains the right man for the job, telling Sky Sports: "Absolutely. I will keep fighting. I prepared the team in the best way I could do. It was not good enough, I have to take responsibility for that but I will find energy and prepare them for Sunday's game."
