Butterfingers goalkeeper Loris Karius has reportedly undergone a scan amid concerns he suffered a head injury during the Champions League final.

The 24-year-old was left in tears in the wake of Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in Kiev as his two high-profile errors contributed to his team’s downfall.

Madrid captain Sergio Ramos appeared to clash with the Reds shot-stopper in the lead up to a corner just moments before his first big mistake allowed Karim Benzema to score.

His misery was compounded when another gaffe saw Gareth Bale’s speculative long-range drive slipped through his grasp and ended any hopes of a Liverpool comeback.

ESPN are claiming that the Anfield club were concerned by the collision with Ramos and the possibility of a concussion.

The German went on a stateside holiday after the defeat but was sent on a detour across the pond on his return to England following orders from the team’s medical staff.

Liverpool are owned by Boston-based Fenway Sports Group and Karius was told to report to the city to meet with Dr Ross Zafonte at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The scan is understood to have taken place on May 31 but Liverpool have refused to comment on the matter despite an approach.

Karius is set to remain in the US in California and is due to link up with Liverpool for pre-season training on July 2.
