Arne Slot will begin his reign as Liverpool head coach at promoted Ipswich Town after the fixtures for the new Premier League season were released.

The Reds travel to Portman Road on Saturday, August 17 for the 12.30pm kick-off, while ending the campaign at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday, May 25 next year.

It continues the trend that so irked Slot's predecessor, Jurgen Klopp, of Liverpool being the lunchtime kick-off far more often than any other club over the last nine years. The game is also the fourth season in a row the Reds start away from home and is also the fifth time in sixth campaigns they'll open against a promoted team.

Liverpool's first home game is against Brentford on the second weekend, before the first blockbuster clash of the season the following week when they travel to bitter North West rivals Manchester United.

That, though, is the only one of their main rivals the Reds will face during the first seven games, during which they also play Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth at home and Wolves and Crystal Palace away.

Key dates include clashes at home to Manchester City on November 30 with the return at the Etihad on February 22, while the home game against Manchester United is on January 4. The first Merseyside derby of the season against Everton is at Goodison on December 7 with the Anfield clash in midweek on Wednesday, April 2.

Liverpool are at Arsenal on October 25 although the return isn't until the penultimate home game on May 10. The games against Chelsea are at Anfield on October 18 and Stamford Bridge on May 3, while the Boxing Day game sees Liverpool at home to promoted Leicester City.

While the first round of games have been chosen for live television coverage, the remainder of the fixtures are subject to change once Sky Sports and TNT Sports have their weekly picks for broadcast.
