Liverpool could be set for a £100m boost after the new Club World Cup deal was put on the table.

The Reds are reported to have been invited to take part in a new 24-team competition could be held every four years.

Launching in 2021, the tournament would have 12 teams from Europe – with clubs who have won at least three European Cups the first to be invited.

It is claimed that a FIFA invite could make all participants a staggering windfall – and Liverpool are one of the club under serious consideration.

But Jurgen Klopp’s Champions League finalists are not the only Premier League club close to being asked.

They could be joined by Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Portuguese pair Porto and Benfica.

It is said that UEFA and the Premier League are “furious” at the idea with a $1b pot shared among the clubs.
