Dominik Szoboszlai was left visibly shaken as Hungary teammate Barnabas Varga suffered a serious-looking injury against Scotland. The Liverpool man could be seen 'in tears' and was pictured visibly emotional as his colleague received medical treatment on the pitch.

Varga was involved in a collision with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who came flying out to try and claim an aerial ball. As he was tended to by medical staff, VAR checked for a penalty in the background, but ultimately cleared the incident.

Far more significantly, there was visible concern for Varga among the players on the pitch. Szoboszlai was among the Hungary players to rush over and try to speed the stretcher team along to the incident, and members of both sides gathered around the stricken forward.

During a lengthy delay, the TV commentators on the UK broadcast said they had seen footage of Szoboszlai in tears. Everyone looked upset by the incident, with Varga eventually stretchered off the pitch, being replaced by Martin Adam.

It was an important game for Szoboszlai and Liverpool's Andy Robertson, with both needing a win to stand a realistic chance of qualification from Group A. It's always strange when matches recommence under circumstances like these, and in this case it appeared to inject a new intensity into the contest.

Mere moments after the restart, Szoboszlai produced an incredible piece of skill, going past two Scotland players with a wonderful drag-back maneuver. Shortly afterwards, Scotland went up the other end and had a strong penalty shout of their own.

Due to the incident, 10 minutes were added on at the end of the match. With both sides needing to go for the win, it descended into a chaotic, end-to-end encounter, where Szoboszlai was among those who had the chance to win the game. Meanwhile, Scotland was denied what looked like a strong penalty shout.

And in the 10th and final added minute, Hungary produced the most dramatic of late winners, keeping its hopes of progressing among the best third-placed teams alive. The players celebrated with one of Varga's shirts after the final whistle.

All of our thoughts are with Varga, who has been taken to hospital, per BBC commentators. It's now been confirmed that he is conscious and in a stable condition, and we'll bring you any more updates as they come in.
