Liverpool has been linked with a transfer for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. And those links are intensifying at a time where the player's father and agent have both cast serious doubt on his Napoli future.

According to TBR Football, Liverpool has 'asked' about Kvaratskhelia, with Arne Slot seemingly keen on signing a new winger. Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have also supposedly shown an interest.

All have been met with a negative response from Napoli. But Kvaratskhelia's entourage have piled on the pressure in remarkable recent developments, with both his father and his representative openly speaking about a transfer away from the Serie A club.

Agent Mamuka Jugeli did not mince his words. “I don’t want people to think that Kvara wants to stay at Napoli," he told Georgian outlet Imedi. “We want to leave, but we are waiting for the end of the Euros so as not to disturb Khvicha. The priority is to join a team that plays in the Champions League.”

In what almost looked like a coordinated assault, Kvaratskhelia's father came out with very similar remarks. He echoed the sentiment about potentially seeking a move following the conclusion of Euro 2024: “I don’t want my son to stay at Napoli. They changed three coaches last season, and it’s hard to play in a similar situation.”

But Napoli did not take well to these comments. Last season's 10th-placed finishers issued a strong statement on social media: "In reference to the statements of Kvaratskhelia's agent, Mamuka Jugeli, and his father Badri, Calcio Napoli reiterates that the player has a contract for another three years with the club. Kvaratskhelia is not on the market.

"It is not the agents or fathers who decide the future of a player under contract with Napoli but the Calcio Napoli club!!! End of the story.”

Kvaratskhelia's form dipped last season as the team as a whole suffered a sharp downturn. But he exploded onto the mainstream European consciousness in the previous campaign, with Liverpool seeing his qualities first-hand in the Champions League.

Liverpool.com says: Napoli will do well to hold onto Kvaratskhelia without European football of any kind. But you can't blame it for taking poorly to these very public statements from the Georgian's camp.

As for claims of his agent and father that they are letting him focus on the Euros, it's hard to see how all this noise helps him do that. But if a transfer is on the cards, he looks to fit the classic winger profile Slot likes.
