Liverpool's first transfer window under Arne Slot is bound to be an intriguing one. You never know who you can trust amid all the rumors and gossip — but the wife of a potential target must be pretty high up the list.

It remains to be seen how much say Slot will actually have in recruitment. No doubt he will give significant input, but the new head coach (not manager) will be working alongside Michael Edwards, who is in his new role at FSG, as well as incoming sporting director Richard Hughes.

Between them, they are highly likely to conclude that another center-back would be an astute addition, should the right one become available on the market. And even if Slot isn't calling the shots, that may yet lead to a reunion with one of his former Feyenoord charges.

Liverpool has reportedly been tracking David Hancko for a long time. His agent told TN.cz back in January that there was 'contact' with with the Reds.

Admittedly, almost the entire recruitment structure has changed since then, not to mention the coach. But the arrival of Slot certainly won't harm the prospects of the center-back, who was a mainstay under the Dutchman in the Eredivisie.

Aged 26, Hancko looks ready for a big move. He never quite made the grade at Fiorentina, but impressed at Sparta Prague before making the step to Feyenoord.

His wife is pro tennis player Kristyna Pliskova, who peaked at number 35 in the world, and who boasts career earnings of more than $3.5m to her name (WTA). She has been off the tour since giving birth to a son, Adam, with Hancko, and she recently lifted the lid on her husband's transfer plans:

"It will be dealt with this summer. Probably only after the [Euros] championship, but I'm not such an expert,” she revealed to Sportovy.

“I don't know if it's up for grabs, but I think he'd like to move on. Actually, we would both be happy.

“We'll see what will happen in the end. I'm not complaining, but there are definitely better places. For me, Spain or Italy.”

Whether Pliskova gets her way remains to be seen. It's hard to imagine Hancko saying no to Liverpool — not only because of Slot, but also because he is a boyhood fan of the club.

Liverpool.com says: The weather in Spain or Italy would be nice, but Pliskova might have a battle on her hands if Liverpool comes in for Hancko! By all accounts it would be a dream move for the center-back.

Whether Liverpool wants to pursue a transfer is the bigger question. There's no doubt whatsoever that Hancko has outgrown his current level, and is ready for a move to a top-five league, but it's a big jump from Feyenoord directly to Anfield. That being said, he shows up really strongly in the data, so maybe he's someone both Slot and Edwards can get behind.
