Virgil van Dijk has been passed fit to start for Liverpool as Mohamed Salah returns against Tottenham Hotspur.

Van Dijk had been an injury doubt after missing team training earlier this week but is named alongside Jarell Quansah as the Reds host Ange Postecoglu's Spurs at Anfield. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson complete the back four with Alisson Becker named in goal.

Salah sat out last week's visit to West Ham United and was involved in a touchline spat with Jurgen Klopp as he prepared to enter as a late substitute, which was an incident that drew plenty of subsequent headlines.

Klopp said in his Friday press conference that the fallout had been put to bed and Salah is back in the side against the North Londoners this afternoon as the Reds look to extend an unbeaten record at home to the visitors that stretches back to 2011, totalling 29 matches.

Cody Gakpo is given the nod over Darwin Nunez as Luis Diaz is stationed on the left of the front three and Harvey Elliott is picked in midfield alongside Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool have never lost a Premier League game in May under Klopp having won nine and drawn four across his near nine-year tenure which comes to a close at the end of the campaign.

Conor Bradley returns to the squad after suffering an injury in the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last month while Stefan Bajcetic is among the subs also.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Mac Allister, Elliott; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz.

Subs:Kelleher, Gomez, Konate, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Jones, Gravenberch, Bajcetic, Bradley.
