Joshua Kimmich has reportedly nailed his preferred option down to three Premier League teams should he leave Bayern Munich, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal said to be his most likely destinations.

Kimmich is going into the final year of his contract with Bayern, with Sky Germany reporting that he is unlikely to extend his stay with the team. The 29-year-old has been linked with moves away from Munich for the past few years - but the German giants are almost certain to entertain offers this summer due to the possibility of him leaving for free in 2025.

Liverpool have been linked with Kimmich in the past, with the Reds likely to be interested once more should he become available this summer.

Speaking last week, Kimmich told reporters: "The situation is absolutely clear. I have a contract with Bayern until 2025, so it's not mainly up to me to be active right now. My focus is solely on the European Championship, and after that there will be a conversation."

Kimmich had been asked about Vincent Kompany coming in as manager, and whether that would affect his future. He responded by saying: "Of course I know him from a distance as a player. I can't judge him as a coach yet. Of course, it's important for my future, but first of all it's important for me what the club thinks. It's nice that we have one less thing to worry about."

While the three Premier League title contenders are seen as the favorites to land Kimmich, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also likely be in contention.

A versatile defender and midfielder, Kimmich has won eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern, as well as one Champions League trophy. Kimmich has openly been frustrated with his treatment at Bayern throughout the years, with him notably said to have received backlash from the club after not being vaccinated against COVID-19.

In 2022, he said: "I felt left alone for too long. I’ve been at the club for almost seven years now, and there haven’t been that many scandals surrounding me. That was the first downturn; that’s when I noticed how the club reacted, and I’m disappointed and hurt."

Bayern are said to be asking for around $65m (£51m/€60m) to acquire Kimmich this summer.

Liverpool.com says: "Although Kimmich is not the type of player who FSG usually target, being older than their usual preferred options, this should be a no-brainer decision for them to make. Kimmich is arguably one of the best players in world football at a huge position of need, in defensive midfield.

"A short-term option, but Kimmich's presence would hugely boost Arne Slot's midfield, and give the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch to play with freedom up the field with Kimmich sitting and holding."
