Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane has been in Mohamed Salah’s shadow over the past month or so. The summer signing has scored 17 times in 22 games to secure the limelight.

Salah’s impressive performances have afforded his manager Jurgen Klopp the luxury of resting Mane. The Senegal international has played 90 minutes in their last three Premier League games.

The 25-year-old should be fresh for the visit of the Russian side with a place in the knockout stage up for grabs. Mane has scored one goal and has made one assist in three Champions League appearances. The African forward scored in a 3-3 draw at Sevilla last time out.

His pace and trickery will be a key weapon for Klopp at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Dejan Lovren

The Liverpool manager was forced to use midfielders Georginio Wijnaldum and Emre Can alongside Dejan Lovren at centre-half in a 5-1 win at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Fortunately for Klopp, Brighton coudn’t expose his makeshift defence. Joe Gomez missed the Premier League clash due to illness.

Worryingly injury-prone Joel Matip is sidelined until January with a thigh problem. Lovren will almost certainly start in the centre of Klopp’s defence in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Estonian defender Ragnar Klavan could partner the ex-Southampton man, or Klopp could stick with his experimental formation. Lovren, who has struggled with confidence and fitness problems this term, will be key to help ease the Liverpool back four through their final group game.

Loris Karius

German shot stopper Loris Karius has been used almost exclusively in the Champions League this season. The 23-year-old has work to do to convince Klopp and Liverpool supporters that he should be their first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Simon Mignolet.

Both goalkeepers have a tendency to look nervous during big games in the Champions League and the Premier League. Liverpool will want to make a bright start to their final group-stage game, but if Spartak Moscow manage to show some resistance, the Anfield atmosphere could become tense.

Then it will become a question of whether Karius can hold his nerve.
