Liverpool vs Burnley, Premier League preview: Prediction, kick-off time, TV, live stream, h2h, team news

Champions Liverpool's attempt to surpass Manchester City's record Premier League points tally continues with a home clash against Burnley on Saturday.

The Reds return to fortress Anfield - where they are unbeaten in top-flight action since April 2017 - having made it back-to-back victories since a 5-0 thumping at Manchester City by beating Brighton 3-1 to become the fastest team ever to reach 30 wins in a single campaign.

Jurgen Klopp's side require nine more points from their final four matches to break City's 100-point mark set in 2017/18, while they are also seeking to become the first side since Sunderland all the way back in 1892 to win every home game in a season.

They will be heavy favourites to move one step closer to those targets against Burnley, though the Clarets are defying a lengthy list of absentees to push for a European spot following an impressive run of three wins in their last four matches.

Team news

Liverpool are waiting to learn the severity of a knee problem sustained by Jordan Henderson against Brighton, with Klopp hoping that his captain has avoided serious injury.

Joel Matip has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a foot issue, while fellow centre-back Dejan Lovren is also nursing a knock.

Burnley, meanwhile, have been decimated by injury and contract issues since the restart, with Jack Cork, Matthew Lowton, Ben Mee and Ashley Barnes all sidelined.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Burnley

Picking against Liverpool winning at home just isn't a viable option these days.

Burnley are in great form despite their recent problems and head to Merseyside full of confidence having lost only one of their last 12 league matches, but lack the necessary firepower to hope to keep pace with the rampant Reds.

Another comfortable win for the champions should await.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Liverpool have dominated this fixture previously, winning nine out of 11 league meetings, with only one Burnley win and one draw.

The Reds ran out easy 3-0 winners at Turf Moor in late August thanks to a Chris Wood own goal and further efforts from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
