Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea LIVE! Premier League result, match stream, latest updates today
Liverpool and Chelsea continued their disappointing seasons as the injury-hit mid-table teams played out an uninspiring 0-0 draw at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.
Chelsea thought they had raced into a third-minute lead when Kai Havertz fired home from close range after a corner, only for VAR to rule the German offside. Liverpool seemed shorn of confidence as they looked to avoid three straight league defeats, only creating half chances with new signing Cody Gakpo missing the best of them in the opening period.
The visitors introduced big-money January arrival Mykhailo Mudryk in the second half but, while he looked lively, the Ukrainian was unable to lift the Blues, who earned a point that leaves them 10th in the standings, with Liverpool eighth. Read the game back below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from Nizaar Kinsella at Anfield.

Here are Nizaar Kinsella’s Chelsea player ratings.
Two men impressed.
14:28 , Alex Young
Neither team could afford to lose this game, really, but a draw also does neither any help.
I suspect Klopp would be the more frustrated of the pair.

Straight at Kepa.
13:57 , Alex Young
67min: Mudryk looks to race clear from Milner, who flies in and takes then booking. Some introduction for the £88.5m man.
Milner surely needs to go taken off.
13:56 , Alex Young
65min: Almost a debut goal for Mudryk! Fantastic feet to find space in the area before firing into the side netting.
That livened up the crowd.
13:53 , Alex Young
62min: Mudryk’s first real touch of note, and it’s a heavy one as the ball goes out of play.

Half-time!
13:19 , Alex Young
50min: Poor. Very poor.
13:16 , Alex Young
47min: Salah on the right, into the area, cuts inside... and finds row Z.
Rough.
13:16 , Alex Young
46min: Four minutes added on.
13:14 , Alex Young
44min: Impressive defending by Thiago Silva, who heads the ball over Kepa to send a cross behind for a corner. He had to do that with Salah lurking at the back post.
13:12 , Alex Young
42min: This has not been a good half of football.
13:11 , Alex Young
39min: Better from Liverpool, who work it towards the edge of Chelsea’s area before first Salah’s half-volley is blocked and then Thiago’s deflected effort is comfortable for Kepa.
13:06 , Alex Young
34min: Bajcetic is booked for a foul on Hall.
13:03 , Alex Young
31min: Almost the opener! The delivery is wiped in and evades every Liverpool defender until Badiashile’s heads straight at Alisson.
Big chance for his first goal.
13:01 , Alex Young
30min: Half an hour gone and Chelsea on top after an impressive opening period.
Hall wins a free kick around 30 yards out, near the left-hand touchline.
Nizaar Kinsella at Anfield
12:56 , Alex Young
“Gallagher's position is very interesting.
“In the no10 role, his running off the ball has created some threat for Liverpool to cope with. Almost in-behind from a good Ziyech pass.”
12:53 , Alex Young
23min: Chance!
Havertz is getting in great positions and finds himself in Liverpool’s area, back to goal. A little flick finds Mount, who play it out wide to Hall for a shot-cum-cross across the face of goal.
Mount could have gone himself then.
12:52 , Alex Young
15min: Liverpool have handed Chelsea’s fast start well, and are starting to put some pressure on their visitors.
Nizaar Kinsella at Anfield
12:45 , Alex Young
“Havertz’s foot was ahead the ball when Thiago Silva shot against the post, leading to the offside.
“If Alisson had saved it, he would have been onside because it wouldn’t have counted as a pass.”
Every day is a school day.
12:41 , Alex Young
8min: A frantic start to the game after that disallowed goal.
Thiago Silva had hit the post in an onside position, but Havertz was then offside for the rebound.
NO GOAL!
12:35 , Alex Young
3min: Chelsea think they lead as Havertz fires home after Liverpool fail to deal with a corner, but the German is offside.
12:33 , Alex Young
2min: Robertson has already wiped out Gallagher.
Kick-off!
12:32 , Alex Young
1min: Here we go!
12:18 , Alex Young
It’s not warm up north (or anywhere in England). Here’s Nizaar.
"It's 9th vs 10th, we're not used to this with Liverpool vs Chelsea."
Defeat today will likely end either team's top-four hopes in January.

Here’s what £88.5million buys you. Mykhailo Mudryk is in the building and on the bench.
Klopp on Chelsea spending
12:09 , Alex Young
Jurgen Klopp cannot explain Chelsea's unprecedented "impressive" spending.
The Blues have spent over £400million since the consortium headed by billionaire Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over in the summer, with £140m of that outlay coming in the last 15 days with potentially more expected before the end of the month.
That is a lot more than Liverpool, who after buying Benfica forward Darwin Nunez for an initial £64m - which could rise to a club-record £85m with add-ons - and youngsters Fabio Carvalho (from Fulham for £5m) and Calvin Ramsay (from Aberdeen for £6.5m), have added £38m PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo as their likely only January transfer.
On whether Chelsea's spending made the challenge for the Premier League top four more difficult Klopp, who celebrates his 1,000th match as a manager on Saturday, said: "Maybe. It may get probably even worse or better, I don't know exactly how you want to say it.
"Interesting (the spending). I cannot explain it, I have no idea. But if the numbers are true then it's impressive."
Do or die in top-four race
11:59 , Alex Young
With both Liverpool and Chelsea sitting a huge 19 points adrift of leaders Arsenal, defeat for either in today’s Anfield showdown would realistically spell the end of their top-four ambitions.
Jurgen Klopp still clearly holds a lot of credit after inspiring the Reds to their historic title triumph but the outcome may be bleaker for Graham Potter, who is still to convince some of the more impatient elements of the Stamford Bridge support that he is the right man for the job.
Mudryk on the bench
11:49 , Alex Young
It's just the one change for Chelsea from the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace as Marc Cucurella comes in for Carney Chukwuemeka.
Fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see £88.5m January signing Mykhailo Mudryk as the 22-year-old winger is on the bench.
Mateo Kovacic is not involved.

Graham Potter’s line up will again leave people guessing with Marc Cucurella the only change for Carney Chukwuemeka from the 1-0 win over Crysta Palace last time out.
They have either crowbarred someone in at right wing back or Lewis Hall is playing in his preferred central midfield role.
Three changes for Liverpool
11:42 , Alex Young
Jurgen Klopp makes three changes from the win over Wolves in the FA Cup.
Alisson, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah come back into the lineup, as 18-year-old Stefan Bajcetic keeps his place in midfield. James Milner is in at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold nursing a niggle on the bench.
Darwin Nunez is fit enough for a place on the bench after missing the last two games.

Sounds like Mudryk is on the bench.
Klopp is 1000-up!
11:24 , Alex Young
Jurgen Klopp will today mark his 1,000th match as a manager.
The 55-year-old began at Mainz, where he took charge for the first time on February 28, 2001, before moving to Borussia Dortmund where he broke Bayern Munich's Bundesliga stranglehold with back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012.
He went on to win every major club honour at Liverpool, including a sixth Champions League and a first Premier League title in 30 years, while also leading the Reds to two other Champions League finals and two second-place league finishes, one with a record 97 points.
His Liverpool side have been pipped to the title by Manchester City twice by a point, in 2019 and 2022, but holds the record for winning more competitive games against Pep Guardiola (11) than any other coach.
Klopp's overall win percentage across his career is 53.9 per cent, with his Liverpool record 60.7 per cent.
Score prediction
11:10 , Alex Young
It’s hard to gauge Liverpool at the moment, while Chelsea’s options have been absolutely decimated by injury.
With neither at full strength, a draw seems a likely outcome.
1-1 draw.
Chelsea team news
11:01 , Alex Young
For Chelsea, Mykhailo Mudryk is in contention to make his debut in at least some capacity, although it comes too early for the likes of Reece James and Ben Chilwell despite their return to training.
Denis Zakaria has become the latest Blues player struck down by injury and will not be available for around four weeks.
Liverpool team news
10:48 , Alex Young
Jurgen Klopp rung the changes for the win over Wolves and is expected to bring back some of his big-name players.
Alisson should start in goal, while all of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Fabinho are in line to return.
Still, the Liverpool boss has spoken of wanting his team to fight, so perhaps that indicates at some surprising calls.
