FIVE Warrington Wolves youngsters – including their latest signing – were in action either on loan or dual-registration at the weekend.

As part of an agreement between The Wire and Bradford Bulls which brought prop Dan Okoro to The Halliwell Jones Stadium, the Yorkshire club announced unused Warrington players would be available to move to Odsal on loan when required by Eamonn O’Carroll’s side.

As such, Okoro returned to his former club on Sunday and came off the bench as the Bulls were beaten by Widnes Vikings – Wire’s officially announced dual-registration partners – in the Championship.

It is believed Widnes’ current preference is to stick with the players they have in their squad as opposed to bolstering with dual-registration players, meaning Warrington have had to look elsewhere for youngsters to get some gametime.

That meant prop Lucas Green, who has already had a loan spell at Bradford and dual-registration run-outs for Widnes and North Wales Crusaders, was allowed to join Swinton Lions on a short-term loan deal last week.

He started in the front row as Swinton won 28-12 at Halifax Panthers with another Warrington youngster coming off the bench in the shape of hooker Ben Hartill, who had moved to Heywood Road on loan earlier this month.

Meanwhile, outside back Jake Thewlis and loose forward Tom Whitehead were out on dual-registration with North Wales on Sunday as they travelled to Hunslet in League One.

Whitehead scored a try as the Crusaders raced into a 12-0 lead, but the Yorkshire side stormed back to record a 22-14 victory.
