PREP BOYS BASKETBALL

Danville 67, Bloomington 40

BLOOMINGTON — After over a week filled with postponements, the Danville High boys basketball team hit the court on Friday.

Danville head coach Durrell Robinson said that there are pros and cons for any team coming back after a layoff.

"It is that time of year where if you put in the work, you should be ready for anything," Robinson said. "This is a gift and a curse because it does give the guys a breather and hopefully they come back fresh, but you also have to fear how rusty they could be."

The Vikings were far from rusty, however, as they would beat Bloomington 67-40.

Robinson said the team's efforts practicing on defense was in full display against the Purple Raiders.

"We focus on lot on defense. We try to get better there and I felt we did that today," Robinson said. "I think we made them turn the ball over 20 times on defense. We are working all the time to make our team defense better."

On offense, CL Dye led the Vikings with 13 points, while JaVaughn Robinson had 11 points, Darius Jay and Jerry Reed each had eight points and Persisis Minifield and Devan Larkin each added six.

"CL is getting more comfortable," Robinson said. "Coming in from Schlarman has been tough for him. He is playing against more athletic players, so he needed time to adjust. He is gaining more confidence and is starting to go with the speed of the game."

The Vikings are scheduled to play Indianapolis Pike Saturday at home and will host LaSalette Academy on Tuesday.
