LOCAL ROUNDUP: Salt Fork takes third at Blue Devil Classic

Dec. 30—BISMARCK — With no local teams involved in the finals of the Blue Devil Classic on Friday, there was still a chance for teams to leave Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin with a win.

Salt Fork took advantage of that chance, beating Lexington 45-24 for third place.

Alexa Jamison had 22 points for the Storm, while Sailor Pacot had 13 and Macie Russell added four.

The ninth place game saw the host Blue Devils lose to Attica 42-38. Ella Myers had 12 points, while Beth McMahon and Marleigh Schmit each had six and Gentry Elson and Mayzee Myers each had four.

Adyson Goodwin had 20 points to lead the Red Ramblers.

In the seventh-place game, North Vermillion beat Armstrong-Potomac 48-31.

Braxtyn Dunham had 17 points to lead the Falcons, while Cadence Dunham had 12, Lauren Ellis had nine and Kera Dunham added seven.

Brynn Spencer led the Trojans with 12, while Elle Jameson had nine and Makenna Ackerman added six.

For fifth place, Oakwood lost to Cissna Park 54-23. Jaydah Arrowsmith had 10 points for the Comets, while Rylee Wright had nine.

Benton Central would win the Classic title with a 59-27 win over Unity.

Danville gets 10th in tourney

CHARLESTON — After some tough losses, the Lady Vikings took 10th place at the Coles County Tournament with a 37-32 win over Jacksonville.

Danville will return to action on Jan. 6 against Peoria Notre Dame in Big 12 Conference play.

Seeger second in tournament

HAUSER, Ind. — The Patriots were down 20-5 after the first quarter and could not recover on Thursday in a 73-28 loss to Providence (Ind.) in the title game of the Hauser Holiday Tournament.

Seeger is 12-5 and will return to action on Jan. 4 against Clinton Prairie.

Oakwood fourth at Monticello

MONTICELLO — The Oakwood boys basketball team saw themselves in the third-place game at the Monticello Holiday Hoopla on Thursday.

The Comets took on the host Sages and could not overcome an 14-2 deficit in the first quarter in a 54-31 loss.

Alec Harrison had nine points and seven rebounds to lead Oakwood, while Cort Vermilion had seven points, Carsen Dudley had six points and Alex Wallace added four points.

Carsen Dudley and Jackson Dudley were named to the All-Tournament team for the Comets, who will return to action Tuesday against Hoopeston Area.
