Ange Postecoglou's pre-season training begins this weekend at Tottenham Hotspur as a couple of new players get to grips with their new surroundings.

Postecoglou and his coaches are expected to reconvene on Friday with the Australian having already been in and out of Hotspur Way in the past week or so on occasions. He will be joined by two new assistant coaches in Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo under newly-promoted senior assistant coach Matt Wells, along with Ryan Mason, Mile Jedinak and goalkeeping coach Rob Burch.

football.london understands that Tottenham's first team players will be back at the Enfield training complex this Saturday to undergo their various tests with the sports science staff before training sessions begin ahead of the new season on Sunday.

That will mean new 18-year-old arrivals Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall will get their first taste of the tough Postecoglou sessions in the days ahead. Tottenham brought Gray in from Leeds United as part of a £40million package, which included just over £25million plus Joe Rodon heading in the other direction. The Championship Young Player of the Year will join another highly-rated teenage wonderkid in the shape of Bergvall, following his £8.5million switch from Djurgarden in February.

"I have another pre-season. It's a double pre-season for me!" Bergvall told football.london back in May in Stockholm. "In Sweden you have three or four months of pre-season from January to April when the league starts. So I'll have another one but I'm not going to complain! I can't complain!"

Spurs have ensured that the teenager got the required time to rest before joining.

"Tottenham have done a really good job with that and have offered me a few extra days so if I want then I can take that, but I think I have two or three weeks off, so that's good," he said . "I'm going on vacation with my family and girlfriend. I'll have my last game against Hammarby and then I go on international duty for maybe 10 days and then I'll start at Tottenham on July 1 so I'll have some rest first.

"It's fine though, I love this. I love football but it's good I suppose to rest mentally and get your energy back. It's going to be a really exciting new season, with a lot of good impressions to make on a lot of new people so I have to be mentally prepared."
