Luis Diaz's father has confirmed the Liverpool No. 7 is a "loyal Barcelona fan" amid continuous links of the Colombian leaving Anfield this summer.

Diaz is reportedly set to have a meeting with Barcelona in the US within the next seven days, with the Spanish club looking to make him its marquee signing of the summer. Despite Diaz insisting that he's happy with Liverpool, rumors have continued to swirl around his future - with Liverpool almost certain to want to keep its star left-winger.

Diaz is yet to speak on his future after insinuating that he is looking to stay with the Reds. However, his father has indicated that he would find a move difficult to turn down.

Diaz's dad has told Win Sports: "The truth is that I know very little about Barcelona at the moment. It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there.

"So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him. Luis is a player who finds it easy to win over because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication, he is a very disciplined player, thank God. There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world."

Barcelona is without a left attacker, with three players whose preferred position is from the right in Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and exciting youngster Lamine Yamal. The Spanish club is likely to move on from Raphinha and Torres, with Diaz potentially slotting in as its starter from the left.

PSG is also said to be interested in Diaz, with the French team needing to rebuild its attacking line after losing Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Lionel Messi in the past 12 months. It remains to be seen how much Liverpool value Diaz, with reports suggesting the price would be around $80 million.

Liverpool.com says: Liverpool could find themselves in an interesting position with Diaz. If the player asks for a transfer, the club probably has to allow him to move on but should command a sizeable transfer fee for his services.

If Liverpool receive an offer of around $80-100 million, they probably have to consider it. While a key starter, Diaz' lack of end product was frustrating at times last season - while only scoring 16 goals in 67 Premier League appearances.

Whatever the case, Arne Slot and the Reds' backroom staff must replace him, and perhaps even look to upgrade from him. They cannot rely on Diogo Jota to start regularly, while Cody Gakpo still has much to prove and needs competition.
