Luke Rockhold vs. Chris Weidman Immediate Rematch Headlines UFC 199

Wednesday is apparently the day of UFC rematches.

UFC president Dana White revealed that Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones were being targeted for a rematch in April during a FOX Sports interview with At The Buzzer, but he wasn't done there. Making the FOX Sports media rounds, he dropped more rematch news on Garbage Time with Katie Nolan.

“Weidman/Rockhold, June, UFC 199,” White said when asked about the prospect of an immediate rematch for the middleweight championship.

Luke Rockhold initially won the belt from Chris Weidman at UFC 194 in December in the co-main event to Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor in Las Vegas.

It was a rough fight for Weidman, who was competitive for the first couple of rounds before Rockhold took over. Rockhold put Weidman on the canvas in the third frame and softened him up with a ground and pound onslaught. In the fourth round, he again took Weidman down, but this time finished him via TKO stoppage.

While Rockhold's victory was considered dominant, Weidman has been calling for a rematch, and UFC officials have responded in kind.

The UFC has yet to announce a location for UFC 199.
