Lyndon Dykes reveals how Scotland squad reacted to Kieran Tierney injury in camp

Lyndon Dykes has revealed the Scotland squad's reaction to watching "great character" Kieran Tierney suffer another injury against Switzerland.

The defender has had a hard time with injuries in recent years with Celtic and Arsenal as well as at his loan club Real Sociedad. And it went from bad to worse for the 27-year-old when he pulled up with what looked like a freak injury as he tracked back to try and keep out the attacker from a Swiss goal at the Euros.

KT and his teammates were all left disappointed at the key star missing this evening's Hungary tie and now Dykes has explained how they rallied behind their buddy and stuck the tunes on for him before he had to leave the camp to return to Arsenal for further scans.

"We were all around him," Dykes told BBC Sportsound. "Obviously he was devastated but he came back to the hotel with us and got a scan etcetera the next day. Unfortunately he's been so lucky with injuries, he's tried so hard for numbers of years.

"These types of things for players literally hate, you're sitting at home and wishing to get back out there and it's just so unfortunate for him. I wish him all the best, he's a great pal. We got back around him, playing cards at night and made sure he came with us. Got the tunes on for him and spent a bit of time with him.

"Then obviously he had to go back to Arsenal to see what the next plan is for him. I can't speak anything but total respect for Tierney. He's a great guy and great character."
