Maison Campbell becomes the latest player to depart York City by mutual consent

MAISON CAMPBELL has become the latest player to leave York City by mutual consent. 

Young goalkeeper Campbell has seen his second spell with York end by mutual consent, after initially signing for the club in 2021.

After a two week trial with City in 2021, Campbell penned a professional deal with the Minstermen after leaving Mansfield Town.

Campbell would leave York for AFC Telford United in October 2022, after his one-year contract with City had expired, before returning to the LNER Community Stadium in January 2023, signing a deal until the end-of-the-season.

An extension to his York deal saw Campbell act primarily as a back-up for David Stockdale, George Sykes-Kenworthy and Rory Watson, whilst also enduring promising loan spells at Knaresborough Town, Marske United and Scunthorpe United.

The 2023/24 campaign also allowed Campbell to make one senior appearance in the Vanarama National League, replacing Stockdale in an early season 1-1 draw with Aldershot Town.

Following the arrival of shot-stopper Harrison Male after a stint with Dorking Wanderers, Campbell would have seen his game time even more limited with the club.

An extension to Watson's contract, with Male, Sykes-Kenworthy and young goalkeeper Sam Taylor all also with the club, sees Campbell leave York for pastures new.

Adam Hinshelwood has also confirmed mutual departures of Quevin Castro, Finlay Barnes, Kai Kennedy and Sam Sanders in recent weeks.
