Manchester United vs Liverpool LIVE!

Erik ten Hag takes charge of United for the first time today as the club’s pre-season gets underway in Bangkok with a friendly against Liverpool. Despite the lack of competitive stakes, the new manager will no doubt be keen to lay down a marker against a direct rival ahead of the new season.

United arrived in Thailand over the weekend but without Cristiano Ronaldo, who is attempting to engineer a move away from the club less than a year after joining. Fans at the 51,000-seater Rajamangala Stadium, though, should expect to see debuts for the likes of Tyrell Malacia and new Liverpool signings Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho.

Jurgen Klopp and Ten Hag have both insisted that working on match fitness is the name of the game this afternoon, but these two teams will also want to put on a show. Follow along with Standard Sport below!

Bruno Fernandes has revealed the “intense” training workouts Man United’s players are being put through by Erik ten Hag.

He said: “It's been pretty intense. He likes intense training, reactions when you lose the ball. He likes everyone to run. He's been really good.

“Everyone is enjoying [it], obviously. Everyone gets really tired at the end of the training but that's what we have to do.”

Jurgen Klopp said yesterday: “The international boys only started back with us on Monday but, as you can imagine, they have come back in outstanding shape, which is not a surprise, so that means they will get some time tonight.

"We will make plenty of changes too, of course, throughout the game. We will need to. It means Darwin will be in the squad and Fabio will play for us for the first time and I’m sure our supporters will be pleased about that.

“But the game is an important one in our preparations, so we will give it a try and any game against United is always a good one.”

Manchester United have been in Bangkok since Sunday and the local fans have already made an impression on Erik ten Hag.

He said: “I knew that Manchester United has a fantastic fanbase but that is only from what I had heard and what I see from afar. But now I can experience it and I see that the Thais are really excited about football, and they are really supporting Manchester United.

“Of course, that's a pleasure for us all and we are really looking forward to tomorrow's game because we know that they will all support us."

Ronaldo nowhere to be seen but not for sale

As we know, one man who isn't in Thailand is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Erik ten Han said on Monday that was due to "personal issues", before insisting the player is not for sale.

He said: "We are planning with Cristiano Ronaldo for this season. That's it and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"I have read [he wants to leave] but I have said, Cristiano is not for sale. Cristiano is in our plans and we want to get success together."
