Manchester City are 'the best team in the world'... but Bristol City can knock them out of the EFL Cup - Aden Flint

Aden Flint insists Bristol City can beat Manchester City in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final despite losing to a last-gasp goal at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Sergio Aguero struck in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 first-leg advantage for the Premier League leaders after the underdogs threatened an upset.

The Championship side went ahead on the stroke of half-time though Bobby Reid's penalty before Kevin De Bruyne capped off a fine move to equalise 10 minutes after the interval.

It looked like the tie would be heading to Bristol all-square but Aguero came off the bench to nod in a stoppage-time winner.

But Robins defender Flint is adamant the semi-final is not over heading into the second leg at Ashton Gate in a fortnight.

"(We're) disappointed to concede late on but I think we can hold our heads high," he told Sky Sports Football.

"We played very well today, could have had a couple more goals but we pushed probably the best team in the world all the way.

"We're still in the contest. We're disappointed but we're looking forward to the next game."

Flint made a wonderful goalline clearance to deny Raheem Sterling immediately after Reid's penalty.

"That's what I'm there to do," he added. "If I see (goalkeeper) Frankie (Fielding) go out, nine times out of 10 I'm going to go back on the line. I was in the right place at the right time."
