Manchester City Fan View: We could dominate England if Guardiola renews his contract

Manchester City are on course to break several records this season in the Premier League and, having progressed to the quarter finals of the Champions League, could be set to cause some serious damage on their European conquest.

With the Blues now in their second season of Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff, they are playing some truly breathtaking football that is beginning to look reminsicent of the football played by both Barcelona and Bayern Munich during the Spanish coach’s time in charge of those clubs.

However, Guardiola only coached Barceona for four years and Bayern Munich for three. Thus, many had expected the 47 year old, who has previously ruled out being a coach into his 60s, would fulfil his three year contract.

Yet despite only signing an initially short contract, it seems that the city of Manchester has won the Spaniard around.

“I have discovered that Manchester City is a much bigger club that people outside think it is,” he told South American channel Directv Sport .

“It does not have a history behind it at the level of titles but it does have the desire to become winners. I do not rule out continuing to lead in 10 years. It will depend how I feel and if they want me.

“It also depends on my family. I am not alone. I cannot live without my family. I will not go somewhere alone.”

If Guardiola were to even stick around at the Etihad for another three or four years beyond the current season, he would surely make the Citizens into one of the most formidable and feared football teams on the planet.

He has improved players like Fabian Delph and Nicolas Otamendi, both of whom were linked with exits on various occasions leading up to his arrival at the helm, as well as overseeing the development of young talent, such as Ederson, John Stones, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus.

It would only make sense for Guardiola to stick around to see how those youthful players develop and to ensure that they reach their potential. At Barcelona and Bayern, Guardiola was coaching clubs that were already at the elitemost level of European football. At City, on the other hand, he has taken a maturing club and made it his own.

If Guardiola were to stick around beyond his existing contract, be it another three years or a decade, the frameworks would be firmly set for the Blues to dominate England and Europe for many years to come.
